I've highlighted a number of articles about arsehats writing hateful content on the internet over the past few months. This has become especially noticeable because of the general douchebaggery that has been Gamergate.
I came across an article at the Guardian by Lindy West who confronted an internet troll who had created a Twitter account in the name of Lindy's father who had recently died. It's an interesting read, especially in light of the abuse received by people such as Anita Sarkeesian and Brianna Wu. The article is related to a recent episode of This American Life where Lindy talks to the abuser.
It is becoming more and more obvious that this sort of abuse is commonplace and needs to stop. But as Lindy says in her article, neither Twitter nor law enforcement take it seriously.
